Mumbai airport maintenance: Mumbaiâs busy international airport is gearing up for pre-monsoon maintenance, prompting the closure of its two runways for six hours on May 9. This closure, from 11 am to 5 pm, is necessary to ensure safe and efficient operations, according to Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL).
According to MIALâs announcement, part of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airportâs (CSMIA) preparations for the monsoon season, both the primary runway 09/27 and the secondary runway 14/32 will be temporarily closed from 11 am to 5 pm on May 9 for necessary maintenance and repairs.
According to a PTI report, a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued to airlines and stakeholders in December, advising them to adjust flight schedules in anticipation of this maintenance. The announcement says there will be minimal disruption, promising that the maintenance work will not affect flight schedules or inconvenience passengers.
